Usually I don’t believe in pushing the seasons at the shop; we don’t display Christmas merchandise in July, for example. With Spring, it’s different. Feeling desperate for milder temperatures and warmth from the sun, we changed our front table on the day after Valentine’s Day to bunnies, eggs, and chicks. We are all feeling worn down after two years of pandemic so Spring can’t come soon enough.

Part of our “therapy” at the shop is creating new crafts for Spring. This work has been going on since January and it’s been fun and refreshing. We also have a new look for our Craft Menu; our Craft Coordinator Angee with her background in graphic design has taken on that work. We hope you like it.

To tell you the truth, it seems a bit shallow to be talking about bunnies and chicks while Russia invades the Ukraine. The suffering of the Ukrainian people and pets is heartbreaking. And there is much suffering all over the world, including closer to home. Protecting my mental health means I have to look away sometimes; working with my hands soothes and grounds me. We all need that sometimes.
